Rocky and Evelin are incredible. We stopped by around 10:45pm to get a late night pizza slice before heading back to the hotel. They were ram packed and busy with pre orders and they kindly took our order as we were celebrating a birthday and went over and above to make our pizza special! We ordered the medium cup pepperoni, but they realised they ran out so they apologized by offering us complimentary garlic knots on the side and to celebrate the birthday they gave us a chocolate mousse. This is a great hole in the wall pizza place. The crust is crisp and the sauce is perfect. What great people!

Absolutely delicious pizza. Quick and clean and worth a wee detour on the light rail. Open late and perfect for a stop on your way home. Staff were lovely too.

Fear not when you see the pizzas getting reheated. My goodness, they tasted as if they were fresh out of the oven after a quick revival. I think it is best eaten at the joint, not takeaway. The pepperoni is a must. This was honestly the best NY style pizza I’ve ever eaten in Australia. Cheese sticks are also freshly fried and delicious. Can’t wait to come back again to try the other pizzas!

I’m from New York living in Sydney for over 30 years. I’ve been waiting years for a New York Slice of pizza and now Sals is the go to.. it taste just like from NY. Sals proves the pizza is better in New York is not because of the water! It’s because of his craft!

Great pizza, a slice of chicken pie. Returned and pizza quality is not NY style - didn’t stand by itself this time - not crispy enough base. Still good though, service was average and non committal, seems they don’t want to be here.

Visited Sal’s during a trip to the city—the “New York” sign definitely caught my eye. We ordered the Queens Meal (18in Pizza, half pepperoni, half cheese), which came out piping hot with a drink and garlic knots (a fun twist on garlic bread). We also grabbed a beer on the side. The food is decent overall. There’s seating both inside and outside, and parking is street‑only. Since it’s a busy area, public transport is the better option. The shop is directly opposite Wynyard Bus Stop Stand G and only a short walk from Wynyard Station’s York Street entrance. If you’re nearby and craving a quick bite, it’s worth stopping in.
